[語法] (1)[この構文で用いられる主な動詞・形容詞・名詞] 動詞： agree, arrange(取り決める), ask, decide, decree, desire, insist, motion, move, order, propose, recommend, require, tell(命じる), urge. 形容詞： desirable, essential, imperative, important, necessary, proper, right 《◆important, proper は10aの型でも用いられる》. 名詞： consensus, decision, desire, insistence, motion, order, proposal, recommendation, request, suggestion. これらの語はすべて何らかの点で「意志(will)」と関係する語である. (2)be が仮定法現在形で使われると, 否定文では not は be の前後いずれにきてもよい：They recommend that this tax not be [be not] abolished. この税金を廃止しないように彼らは勧めている. cf. They suggest that I not eat [^×eat not] junk food. (3)直説法を用いるのは((主に英略式))： They suggested that she remained here until next week. / I am anxious that the affair is settled down. / It is important that she learns to control her temper.
