instruct 細かく指図する: The owner instructed his agent to sell his property. 所有者は財産の売却を代理人に指示した.

enjoin 権威をもって強く命令する《格式ばった語》: He enjoined his children to be quiet. 子供たちに静かにするように命じた.

charge ある仕事を義務・責任として課す《格式ばった語》: He charged us to keep the plan secret. その計画を秘密にしておくように命じた.
