・The fact is that I went and saw him yesterday. 実はきのう彼に会いに行って来たのだ.　★《口語》 ではしばしば接続詞 that を省いて The 〜 is(,) …といい, また冒頭の定冠詞を略して Fact is(,) …のようにもいう.

・The fact of the matter is (that)…. 事の真相は…だ.

・The fact remains (that)… …という事実は依然として残る, …ということは否定できない.
