・The birds are singing their merry notes. 鳥は陽気にさえずっている.

3 [副詞または前置詞付きの句を伴って] 歌って〈ある場所・状態〉に送る[迎える], 至らせる.

・sing the harvest home 歌いながら収穫を家に運ぶ (cf. harvest home 3 a).

・sing one's life away 一生を(のんきに)歌って過ごす.

・sing away one's troubles 歌を歌って憂さを晴らす.

・sing the old year out and the new year in 歌って旧年を送り新年を迎える.

・sing a child to sleep 歌を歌って子供を寝つかせる.

・sing a person into a good mood 歌を歌って人の機嫌を直す.
