★次のような例では who を用いるべきであるが, しばしば後の動詞の目的語と感じられて whom となる.

・the girl who [《俗》 whom] I hear is to be his wife 彼の妻になると聞いている娘.

・There is no one who [《俗》 whom] we can believe is competent. 適任と我々が信じうる人は一人もない.

b [非制限的用法] すると[だが, もしも, なぜなら]彼[彼女, 彼ら]は[を].
