[語法] (1)副詞・形容詞が more の位置に来る時は, -er 型であっても, good, bad を除いて, more 型を使うことができる： The longer [The more long] we waited, the more impatient we became. 待たされれば待たされるほど, いらいらしてきた. (2)このように主節を後に置くことが多いが, 主節が先行する場合もある： We became (the) more impatient, the longer we waited. 《◆the は省くことが多い》. (3)the more と形容詞・副詞を離さない：^×The longer we waited, the more we became impatient( →the 【副】 1). (4)((ことわざ))では The more(, ) the better. (多ければ多いほどよい)のように主語・述語がない場合が多い. (5)逆の意味は the less ..., the less ...
