I can [am able to] read the book in a day.). ただし, 後者の例は not, hardly, barely などの否定語・準否定語が付加される場合や疑問文・条件文では可： The book is hardly [barely] 〜 (for me) to read in a day. / Is this book 〜 (for me) to read in a day?
