[語法] (1)「その山は登る価値がある」は The mountain is 〜 climbing. ＝It is 〜 (while) climbing the mountain. ＝It is worthwhile to climb the mountain. ＝Climbing the mountain is worthwhile [〜 the time]. という. ^×The mountain is 〜 while climbing. は不可. (2)The mountain is 〜 climbing. の場合, 主語 the mountain が動名詞 climbing の目的語にもなる(1aの用法). it が形式主語の解釈も可能で, その場合は while が省略されている. It is 〜 while to climb the mountain. の it は to climb 以下を指す形式主語(1bの用法). (3)The mountain is 〜 climbing. の構文では, doing の目的語を worth の主語にとるので, ^×The mountain is 〜 being climbed. とはしない. これは The mountain is easy to climb. を ^×The mountain is easy to be climbed. としないのと同じ.
