【語法】 (1) この語の目的語が不定詞の場合は to の代わりに rather than を用いる: He 〜red to play golf rather than (to) go swimming. 泳ぎに行くよりゴルフの方を好んだ.　(2) 目的語が名詞の場合にも rather than を用いることがある: I 〜 wine rather than whiskey. ウイスキーよりワインの方が好きだ.　(3) 比較されるものが省略される場合がある: I (much) 〜 standing (to sitting).＝I (much) 〜 to stand (rather than (to) sit). 私は立っている方が(ずっと)いい / I 〜 to wait (rather than (to) go at once). (すぐ出かけるより)待つ方がいい
