・This book treats of the progress of medicine. この本は医学の進歩を論じている.

・What subject did you treat with? どんな問題を論じたのか.

★時に, 問題の取扱い方を示す場合には他動詞として用いる (cf. vt. 3 a).

3 談判する, 交渉する, 掛け合う, 取引する (negotiate) 〔with〕.

・France was treating with Britain for an amicable settlement. フランスはイギリスと和解交渉をしていた.
