[語法] (1) 名詞を修飾する場合は less： John eats less meat than Bill. ジョンはビルほど肉を食べない《◆John does not eat as much meat as Bill (does). の方が普通》( →less 【形】[語法]). (2)距離・金額・時間などの数量関連名詞と用いるのは不可. less を用いて less than three weeks, less than ten dollars のようにする. また名詞 number では smaller を用いる( →few 【形】[語法](4)).
